THE FESTIVAL

Athens Photo Festival (former International Month of Photography in Athens), is the annual festival of photography in Greece and a premier cultural event in Athens, established in 1987 by the Hellenic Centre for Photography. It is the first and longest-running international festival of photography and related media in Greece, and one of the five oldest of its kind in the world.

The Athens Photo Festival with over than 25 years of active and creative presence, expands continuously its range of activities and its role in a changing society, through a variety of projects and initiatives that enable people to experience and enjoy photography. Our programs bring together a European vision of art and cross-cultural exchange with a commitment to community involvement and the enrichment of Greece cultural resources.

Athens Photo Festival 2013 will take place in a significant number of venues across the city of Athens during the months of October and November and includes a variety of solo and group international and national exhibitions as well as screenings, special events, educational programs and other parallel events. The main program of exhibitions and events takes place, for third consecutive year, at “Technopolis” of Municipality of Athens, creating a platform for a wider audience.

The festival’s success, to a great degree, is the result of collaboration and support of many fellow public and private organizations and individuals from Greece, Europe and beyond. The growing international recognition and critical acclaim of the Athens Photo Festival allows the Festival to attract outstanding projects and attendees from all over Europe.
